Dog tricks [Seasonal Task 20]

So hey, remember when Barus wasn't human? I don't blame you if you don't; that was back in 2008.

But gave me a reason to revisit the old cerberus with Seasonal Task 20: Society of the Constellations. I worked on this instead of sleeping last night. Also! I have my new tablet pen now.  Yaaaaay!

Constellation: Canes Venatici
Age: Young adult
Fighting Style: Brawler

He's a little fuzzy on his own history: he knows was summoned to the human world specifically to hunt and kill poltergeist, and he knows that he's gone through several handlers and masters, but without a firm grasp on the passage of time while in his natural state he doesn't know how long he was with each one. Things get a bit clearer eighteen years ago, when a botched attempt to bind the hellhound to a child outside of the original summoner's bloodline was a bit more literal than intended: hellhound and child were haphazardly 'stitched' together to create the being that is Barus.

Barus struggles with his humanity. The single head is just unnerving, even with Aramus (the left head) and Nerynus (the right head) a rumble in the back of his mind and a warmth on his neck, and clothing is just... weird. Humans are weird. Why are you so weird?? He just wants to sprawl out on his back in the middle of the floor, what's wrong with that? (Why could I do that when human-me was new and not now? These rules are bullshit.) He's most upset about not being able to retake his full hellhound form and having to stick it out being in human form all the time. There are some obvious upsides, but it's weird okay. He's never going to be over that.

He was given to the Society when he hit human puberty, as his former handler just could not deal with him like that. He's experienced more freedom with the Society than he's ever known and it is delightful. He adores the Society and everyone he's met as part of it.

He's still the excitable puppy that he is in every incarnation, playful and cheerful and generally just good for a good time, but he's also like... 90% more likely to bite.

Abilities:

• Tracking and killing (consuming? even he's not sure what happens to them) poltergeist
  
• Manifesting Aramus and Nerynus, either as scare tactics or to do the aforementioned killing/consuming/sending to the underworld
• Reinforcing his body to make i̶t̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶i̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶d̶o̶ ̶s̶t̶u̶p̶i̶d̶ ̶s̶t̶u̶n̶t̶s̶  his hits/bites stronger
