Personality: Barus is an amazingly cheerful and upbeat guy. No, seriously. Despite what the image above might show, he's cheerful and upbeat. He is loud and boisterous, and really doesn't understand the meaning of personal space. Especially if there is something sweet involved; the boy adores his sweets. Barus would likely jump on people if it wasn't for the fact that he'd probably squish the majority of the people he knows under pure muscle. As it is he's fond of draping himself across shoulders and leaning on people. More than once he has been compared to an exuberant puppy.

Barus initially wore his brooch as a clip-on necktie. By his second year as Canes Venatici he has taken to wearing it as though it were a lapel pin; he still loves the idea of wearing neck ties and having the brooch front and center, but it has been made abundantly clear to him that a clip-on fastener is not the most secure way of keeping it with him. 

Barus has several tattoos, although the only ones that are (slightly) visible when transformed are the dog heads on his neck-- one on either side. They are jokingly named after the dogs in his constellation: Asterion (left side) and Chara (right side).  His other tattoos include a pair of black 'bands' around each wrist, a rather ornate stomach tattoo, a winged design with a "Z" in the middle (in reference to his missing friend Zaniel) on his left shoulder, and another ornate design consisting of a heart and an "x" on his right shoulder with a bunch of random lines thrown in for fun. Born in Greece, it's only a few weeks after Barus is born that Anita leaves her engagement ring on the counter and disappears out into the world. She has had no contact with him since then, and Barus generally does not care. He doesn’t believe that his biological mother could be any more awesome than his “true mom” Carla.

Marcus met Carla when Barus was six months old, while she was on vacation in Athens. They keep in contact when she goes back to America, and the following year Marcus and Barus vacationed in Utah with her. For the next five years they went back and forth between Athens and Salt Lake City; even before they were married Barus referred to Carla as “Mom”.

Barus will fight anyone who doesn’t believe him that he has the best parents ever—who else has a mom who arranges a bungee-jumping trip to the Grand Canyon for a fifteen year old? Okay so it was for his dad, but he totally went and got to jump too.

Powers/Abilities:
Canes Venatici relies on a partner ("the hunter") for any sort of 'ultimate' end to an enemy. His powerset is very much based on that of a flushing gun dog: that is to say he finds and flushes out the game/target/enemy, so that the hunter can take the shot. 

• Innate: Track & Mark: Once a target has been found he is capable of keeping track and remembering where it is, no matter how many distractions pop up. Unless it moves while he cannot see it.
• Offensive: Canum Impact: Canes Venatici stomps the ground hard to create an explosion that sends the target into the air and opening them up to further attack. The explosion may cause damage or stun the target, depending on the target's own abilities.
