Character Name: Barus Nerynus [b-AER-us NAE-ree-nus] Character Species: Hellhound, Hooded Cerberus breed Powers: Poison/Venom. Although the "snake" on his tail is not a real living snake, it's still capable of poisoning anything it "bites" Hails From: Greece
Height: 6'10" Eye Color: White Hair Color: Black Dog-form: 7 feet high at the shoulder.
A little bit on his tail: Although it has the appearance of a cobra, right down to a mouth that opens and closes and has venomous fangs, it's not a real snake. Although Barus is quite capable of purposely controlling it, most of the time he forgets he has it, and it reacts on it's own to stimulus-- like how if your doctor hits your knee with a hammer, you kick. In Barus' case, the tail will "hiss", which is just the expulsion of air from a small sack in the "head", or bite, depending on the stimulus.
Brief Character History/Description:
Barus is the result of quite a bit of selective breeding. As a Cerberus, he is expected to come and guard the gate to Hades when he has grown in age and experience. As his birth-form is that of a giant three-headed dog, it took a blessing from the gods to allow him to shift between a human and dog form; this blessing was granted on the stipulation that he attend the academy so that he could learn to be more than just a "dumb dog" to quote his parents.
Although Barus was originally fully intent on following in his parents foot-steps as a guardian of Hades, with his newfound freedom in a human form he's found himself... distracted, to put it mildly. He has found a love of sports and activities that are, to quote him "this side of lethal"; if it doesn't make his muscles ache then he's really not interested in it. Of course, this is balanced out by the fact that he's been told that if he lets his grades fall below a certain point, the blessing will be revoked and he'll be back to being a three-headed dog for the rest of his life.
On that note, Barus actually finds it incredibly disturbing to only have one head. Especially since the other two heads do have their own pseudo-personalities: Nerynus, the kind one, and from who he took his "family name", and Aramus, who's just an ass. Both Nerynus and Aramus essentially go to sleep when Barus is in human form, leaving him with just his own thoughts, which terrified him at first, though it's now down just mildly disturbing. As an attempt to keep Nerynus and Aramus close in human-form, he has had the shadow of a dog's head tattooed on either side of his neck.
Personality: Barus is an amazingly cheerful and upbeat guy. No, seriously. Despite what the image above might show, he's cheerful and upbeat. He's just been taught that a uniform should be worn with respect, and therefore he will show it respect. Especially since he has a bad habit of popping buttons and bursting seams if he moves around with any of his usual exuberance, and having to (frequently) replace uniforms when you're as big as he is can get a little annoying. Just because there's magic to do the tailoring, doesn't mean the magicians doing it want to see him every day.
He is loud and boisterous, and really doesn't understand the meaning of personal space. Especially if there is honeycakes involved. The boy loves his sweets, although like any dog, he really shouldn't be given chocolate; mostly because it makes him extra hyper, and he's already a wildly active cheerful puppy. He would jump on people if it wasn't for the fact that he'd probably squish the majority of his classmates under pure muscle.
Side note: Yes, Barus has lots of muscles. This means that, despite being a mythical beast, he is very low on the powers/magic scale of things. Barus doesn't care. Barus likes his muscles more than magic, anyways
